I have always felt that those criticisms were unfair. Frank's writings have always seemed very genuine to me. He continually goes out of his way to refrain from demonizing his parents, but simply to look at their lives from a different perspective. He never left the faith (he's Greek Orthodox now), so its not like he's calling himself the anti-christ or anything. I guess I empathize with him because I see a little of my own story in his.

While his book may be even-handed, doesn't seem a bit off-color for Frank to write this book when his parents can't really respond or defend themselves? I have heard some other reviews of the book that claim that Frank wasn't as kind as he could/should have been. It just seems a bit like he is trying to make money off of controversy. Of course, without having read the book myself I should reserve all judgments...
