This story is beyond appalling to me. Not only did this man step in to help another individual in trouble, but then he paid the highest cost for it. The truly sad part of this article (beyond the obvious) is not that he died; not even that he was ignored as he lay bloodied on the sidewalk (as egregious as those things are). What really strikes me is that all those who constantly complain about the danger of illegal immigrants in this country, and all those who demean the homeless constituent on a regularly basis, have no capacity to even comment on this terrible event. By their insistence on discrediting, through abjectification, such persons they have pushed the latter beyond the periphery of social organization into oblivion. And that is a true travesty…
